First let me say... I have never heard of the Rick and Bubba radio show... so maybe that alone should've stopped me from agreeing to read and review the book. I think that without knowing the personalities of these two people, I can not fully appreciate the book for the humor in which it was written...
The book is completely tongue-in-cheek and written, in what I would assume, is their unique style and humor. As they tell their reader "da rules" on eating, I found myself chuckling as they proclaim that, "ribs should never be eaten with a knife and fork... fun of eating a rack of ribs in the first place is getting the barbecue sauce all over your hands and face... what would be the point of licking your fingers later if there wasn't any sauce on them?" The book had funny points, however I really wasn't interested or motivated to continue to finish the book. There were a few recipes throughout, but none that I decided to write down in my recipe file. I'm sorry to say I wouldn't recommend the book, but that's because my personal (humor) style just didn't really line up with theirs. Nothing was offensive and the premise behind the book was clever, just not one that I would naturally gravitate towards or recommend. If you know of, and enjoy, their radio show, by all means I would definitely encourage you to read the book.
