The Cascades

Posting two shots today from a very special hike I took two weekends ago. I went to visit my folks for a quick overnight, with the goal of bringing back our Christmas decorations that are being stored at their place. I asked my dad if we could go out somewhere and hike a trail together. He took me to a place called "the Cascades." Now that they've retired to his old college town, he is revisiting some of the spots that meant so much to him as an undergrad. This was one of those places, however he'd never seen it in its semi-frozen state. He chuckled as we walked and talked (except for the really steep climbs, lol), and commented that "if someone would have told him that he'd later be hiking this trail with his married daughter one day"... :) We had a great time together. I was always pretty much a "daddy's girl" growing up, and now that I'm married I'm probably closer to mom, but when it's just he and I we have no problem picking right up. That Saturday was one of those times... when I remember our time together, it puts me "on cloud nine."

Thank you so much for your sweet comment! I hope you have a Merry Christmas with your loved ones as well.
Wow, what a great testimony! just reading a little bit about you on your blog has impacted me already, and your blog title is very catchy too.
It's always a great pleasure to be able to spend some time with parents, right? The photos are lovely. Both of my parents are in a different state from where I live. Hopefully one day I'll have them close to me, especially my mom. :)

Blessings to you and your family!
